Dance, Dance, Dance!

Miss B just finished up a week of "Dance Camp", so to speak, at her studio called "Intensives".  Now that she has crossed over into the world of Competitive Dance, this is an important milestone for her.  Not only did she dance pretty much non-stop for 3 hours a day, but she got to work with some absolutely AMAZING teachers & choreographers from around the country!

While she loved each one individually, her favorite by far was Emilio from the show So You Think You Can Dance.  I will preface this with . . . before this week, we had no idea who he was.  :(  SYTYCD is not a show that we watch.  So we googled his performances to get an idea of what she would be learning and all we could say was "WOW!"

He was amazing with the girls!  His specialty is Hip Hop, which of course is B's FAVORITE!! He had there attention right off the bat...

By the end of their 2nd session with him, they had learned quite a few new moves & techniques including a little bit of break-dancing!  :)  Of course the girls asked to see more, which led to screams and cheers so loud that they could be heard all the way down the hall! His standing flip had them in an uproar!!  LOL!

Not only is Emilio an amazing dancer, but he is also a very genuine person.  I was very impressed with how humble and gracious he is.  We were all very honored to have met him & I know it is an experience that Miss B will carry with her for a long time.

She also got to work with another FANTASTIC Hip Hop teacher, Miss Brandi.  I am bummed that I wasn't able to get an individual picture of them together, but Miss B walked out of that class with a little extra "swagger" in her step.  :)

Warm up time is very important, especially for your core . . .

She had 2 different instructors for Jazz and Contemporary.  Miss Sarah (no pic either, bummer) was her first.  She was awesome!!  She even created a YouTube video with a dance the girls learned.  I would love to post it, but I didn't feel comfortable without getting permission from the other parents.  But I will say this about it, not only was it SUPER cool, but the girls absolutely loved the fact that they were in an "actual" video!!  (Mimicking 7-8 year old girls squeal!)

Miss Elizabeth was equally as AWESOME!  B absolutely loved learning from her!  Mommy got a little star struck when I learned that she has worked with stars not limited to but including the One and Only MADONNA!  (For those that know me well know exactly how BIG of a deal this is!)

Mr. Ty (ballet) and Miss Rochelle (tap) rounded out the list of unbelievable instructors of the week.  (This picture taking mom was not on her game!  For once the camera was NOT "attached" to my forehead. )

This was an amazing experience for B to meet, learn and grow from this fantastic group of instructors.  We would be remiss if we didn't THANK Miss K (owner/teacher/choreographer extraordinaire of B's beloved studio) for organizing this wonderful opportunity for the kids. We love her for all she does!!

After all was said and done, to say B was exhausted is an understatement.  :)

We are so excited & looking forward to watching her Pirouette, Shuffle/Tap, and Pin-Drop her way across the stage next season.  But for now, we'll let her sleep.  :)
