Who done it?? ~ "Clue: the Mystery of the Missing Plant"

Honey & I both played a lot of board games growing up.  It's a past time that we have enjoyed passing down to our kids.  One of my favorite games has always been CLUE, so when I saw that a local park was hosting a scavenger hunt inspired by the game, I thought we had to try it out!

The flyer read, "There has been a sudden disappearance of one of ______ Park's most beloved and exotic specimen plants in the Conservatory, the Sago palm. ... Was it killed, stolen, or misplaced?  By whom and how?  The only witnesses we have are our faithful and loyal horticulture staff.  Unfortunately, because they are our only witnesses, they have now become our primary suspects in this case.  All of the suspects have been interviewed and have provided an alibi statement of where they were during the hour the plant went missing. It is your job to determine the culprit and what he or she used to make this plant disappear. Throughout the Park, true statements to help you solve the mystery are hidden in camouflaged containers.  Use this map to proceed to each of the "rooms" within _____ Park and search for the hidden clue.   Signs in each "room" will further assist you in finding the clues."

The Park outfitted us with a backpack full of items to assist us in solving the mystery. (So fun!  I think I mentioned that I love themes, so the time and details that went into making this not only fun but educational for families put a huge smile on my face.)

The most important piece of equipment was the handheld GPS system that was to navigate us to each hidden clue in the "Rooms".

After a little trial and error with the device, we were able to set out on our journey to uncover which of the suspects, Colonel Mustard Greens, Miss Scarlet Rose, Professor Stanley Plum or Mrs. Poinciana Peacock, was guilty by using either the Hand Trowel, Pruners, a Spray Bottle or a Wheelbarrow as a "weapon".  (Again with the theme!!! Love it!)

Have no fear the D Family Detectives are on the case!

Not sure exactly what kind of container we were looking for was our first challange. But once we found it, the pieces started to all fit together.

This "Room" ~ The Stone Bridge  ~ was a little tricky do to a recent heavy rain storm. Only the "brave" ones not wearing flip-flops dared to enter in search of the clue.

The clue for this "Room" had us stumped for quite awhile, so a short photo break was needed to recharge our "super sleuth" abilities.  Detectives need to take pictures for evidence, right?!

As you can see some of the clues were a little more hidden than others ...

so apparently one of our Detectives got a little tired that they needed a lift to the next "Room". I'm still trying to figure out how this was made possible. :)

This clue was my favorite and I am a little proud to say that I was the only one that figured it out.

It could be that the answer was something near and dear to my heart.  FGVYYRGB = STILLETO.  (I LOVE SHOES!!!  Who knew there was a Hosta that was named after one of my favorite type of heels.)

At long last, we reached the final "room" and were ready to make an accusation.  It was a neat little lock box that we had to correlate the numbers to which suspect we thought was guilty with the corresponding weapon.

AND ........ WE WERE RIGHT!

It was Colonel Mustard Greens with the Wheelbarrow.  :)

Congatulations D Family on solving the case!  Job well done!
